Title: Carb syncronisation
Post by: DaielHancock on June 04, 2011, 03:20:40 PM
okay so i just did a carb sync on my bike and on the left hand carb there was a little rubber cap over the nipple where i had to connect the hose to my vacuum gauge. After syncing the carbs i forgot to put the cap back on, i was wondering how vital it is? Atm i have a small peice of hose on the nipple as i left it on for easy access next time. i was going to put a little bolt in the end to plug up the hole bu totally forgot. Will the the left carb now suck in a load of air and run lean?

Yes.  You now have a massive air leak that you absolutely need to plug.

+2 and it will cause major engine damage over time.

okay so i definitely have to plug the hole, i was wondering whether a small extension hose from the left hand carb nipple to just above the carb would affect the air/fueling at all? i dont think it would but just thought i would ask.

Plug the hose with a bolt, and you're fine.
I did it the same way, since the original cap was stuck to a nipple due to heat, so I tore it while removing.

On the Vac Port that's between the carb's...add a short piece of vac hose and leave it on the carb, you will save yourself from any future grief, yes you can thank me now
