Title: Greenthings and salavations.......
Post by: Blueknyt on November 16, 2003, 02:09:55 AM
Ok, been working on the jetting thing on my GS, it had 122's in it, droped andpoped in 150's and the damn bike fell on its ass above 3krpm,  barly open the throttle plates and i could tell bottom end was better, but anything above the 3-4k mark and your chewing on headlight rim. now, dropped those and put in the 130's alittle better but hits its chin about 7k, getting pissed, go to bikeshop, grab used 127.5's for a 5spot,(nice guys) and its better still, bottom and midrand works really well, but up top, its buckin abit, little crackling from carbs, just like other jets

now, one thing i wonder, being as i put these carbs together from "Bucket O parts" im lookin and wonder WTF, then it hits me,the needles i have instock are either small diameter with clips with matching emultion tubes (like dynojet) or a thick large diameter needle and E tube, but the large needl has a heavy ramp to fine taper , not a smooth transition at all, like Big bore bikes that need that super rich on WOT for massive power but milder low -mid range.    so, inshort, i need a PICTURE from somone of a STOCK GS500E carb slide needle and Emultion tube,  my tubes have a weird  shroud that sticks up into venturi, somthing tells me this isnt the stock emution tube either.   if once confirmed this is the case, im probly going to be needing stock needles and emution tubes. but, lets see a pic first, thanks.
Title: Needles...

Needles ... easy... Poke yourself with the sharp end. If you draw blood, or bend the end... its not stock. That adjustable grooves are a dead giveaway, but the extra assurance is the poke test. The stock is fat, you'll never draw blood with the stocker, or bend it trying. Its too fat. Anyway 118, 122, 128, and 134 are the DJ mains provided. The first 2 are for with air box, and the next 2 are for K&N pods.
Cool.
Srinath.

You can see a fairly clear picture of the stock needle here:

thanks miket, yup, you confirmed my guess,  out of all my spare parts, i dont have ANY stock needles or emution tubes, just what looks like the gsxr 600 36mm carbs came with, and the jetkit needles. I guess im gonna have to play with the Jetkit needles and tubes, these other needles are fat but the very odd ramp at the end.
