Title: Carb Jet help.
Post by: DaielHancock on June 10, 2011, 03:27:31 PM
Okay so i need  some jets for my 2004 gs500 and im not sure where to get them, infact finding a place on google seems quite hard.

I need a pilot size 20, mid main size 65 and main size 140 or 142.5 (not sure which one, i have standard exhaust but k&N lunchbox, any suggestions on better jetting?)

Every bike place i phone up has the mikuni main jets from size 75-150 but no 65's. Am i asking for the wrong jets? also when i phoned up there were two types of thread sizes on the mikuni jets, 7.5 and 8 (some sort of measurement, not sure) i wasn't sure which one the gs500 k4 jets were, any ideas?

Thanks for the help Daniel.

UPDATE

i was just looking on the gs twin wiki and it says that the part number for the mikuni pilot jets is one of two part numbers,

1. N224.103 and
2. VM28/486

i was just checking this website that specialises in mikuni carbs and jets etc and i found this page.

http://www.allensperformance.co.uk/mikjets.html

This shows both part numbers above and the only difference between them is the difference in diameter of the bleed tube. The specs of each are shown below.

PART NUMBER: N224103:
5.0mm Slot head
M4 Thread
28.0mm length
2.5mm Diameter bleed tube
8 Bleed holes

PART NUMBER: VM28/486:
5.0mm Slot head
M4 Thread
28.0mm length
2.0mm Diameter bleed tube
8 Bleed holes

So can anyone clarify which pilot jet is the correct one to use in my 2004 gs500. Thanks Dan Hancock.
