Title: '02 GS500 Stalls in 1st Gear
Post by: g.brooker on June 10, 2011, 04:38:08 PM
The '02 stalls in 1st gear? I have to throttle up the rpms otherwise she stalls out. Going from 2nd to 3rd is seems she is starving for fuel. She idles just fine. Could this be caused by a fuel related carburetor adjustment?

Thanks

try running your bike on prime one time see if it still does it or not.  if it doesnt do it anymore your petcock is crapping out or you have a vac leak to the petcock.  very common on the gs's

What rpm's are you trying to slip the clutch out  at? The Gs makes little power under  3k.

Did the bike sit unused for a long period of time?

Thanks to all for your input.

I found the problem.  When I removed the diaphragm I pushed up on the Jet Needle and found it to be stuck and not moving freely up and down.  One of the Jet Needle washers wasn't installed correctly by Long Beach Motor Sports when I had the carbs rebuilt. The washer was laying next to the Jet Needle and not through it. I put it on and know she runs great.
