Can anyone confirm the function/purpose of the wires shown in reply #45 circuit diagram (G/Bl & R/B) and in reply #48 (first pic)

I've searched and couldn't find a definitive answer and didn't want to pull up an old thread so started this one.
I'm planning on something similar to that above and don't want to leave it unplugged.
Thanks.
It appears that they go to the ignitor.Another safety feature that stops the engine from being able to start in gear.
Thanks, good to know...I'll splice them into the new harness.
Bike can start in gear as long as kickstand is up and clutch pulled in. That's on my 2009 which has the extra wires from the clutch switch.
Those wires make contact in 1st and 2nd gear (I looked at the contact assembly). While no one has been able to give a definitive answer, it would appear that it alters the timing when in 1st or 2nd. A bike will run with no really noticeable difference with them disconnected. Perhaps timing and emissions control - but no one has been able to tell for sure. It has nothing to do with preventing the bike from starting.
Only the neutral contact affects starting: Neutral and kickstand down = OK. NOT Neutral with kickstand down = NO START. makes sense so you can start a bike in neutral while working on it but in gear with kickstand down stops it so it won't run away.
