So, I went outside this morning to go to work, and my normal routine is to check all vital functions.
Its dark, and i notice the brake lever is wet, look down the right side of the bike, and its covered with brake fluid, with some spots on my NEW TIRE wtf.
I KNOW, it wasn't like that when I parked it, i do the same OCD check after riding as i do before riding.
They/he/she, whoever it was, broke the little circle window for the fluid level, well, it wasn't in there either, so someone obviously pushed it in, then took it out, and tossed it.
Found it behind my rear wheel. And, its cracked with a hole in the center of it. Cant reuse it, also the little rubber o-ring is broke in half, found that inside the brake cylinder.
So, obviously, i need to do something. I've bled brakes plenty of times, so a complete fluid drain is in order.
For the front cylinder, is it even worth it trying to find that tiny effing piece?
Or, will a front assembly from a different bike with the normal screw on top cap work?
BTW, All ready planning on getting a locking bike cover for it. Its a shame, that I live in a gated apartment complex with excellent reviews and neighbors, and it still gets messed with. FML
All right, after searching, it seems like that little window was bound to fall apart anyway, so someone jacking up my wheels just made i happen sooner...
What other bikes master cylinder would work on our bikes? With the Florida heat, I don't really want to deal with it breaking again, and Im not too keen on plugging the hole with a piece of tubing.

BTW, this was done by someone that knows what they're doing. Almost anything else could have caused a lose of control out on the road. This was a quick way to prevent you from even getting on the road.

According to Pablo's GS500 page on the GS wiki a 88-93 Katana GSX-1100 one will fit.
Don't know if it will fit but I have brand new master cylinder for an F4i sitting in my shop that I have n use for. Willing to sell cheap :D

The new river Idiots sent me the wrong size one ... ordered one for a yamaha they sent me a suzuki one. Just make sure you're getting the right one ... but yes it is a valid repair, glass, not crystal. Though they are the same IMHO.

Sounds like a plan. The shop down the street got a master cylinder used in good condition from a salvage bike for 30 bucks, has an external res, if it check out ill do that, if not, ill get the repair kit.
Don't really wanna jury rig something involving the brakes, and rtv and watch parts is kinda sketchy.
Im not sure if the F4I has the same banjo bolt size?
Personally, I'd fix what you have, or buy a GS500 replacement, rather then cobbling on the wrong MC. The correct GS500 MC on ebay couldn't be more than $30... why the fascination with using something that's not stock?
Unless it's free, the amount of cobbling you'll need to do on the non-intent part is going to blow any potential minor savings.
Bar size, lever angle and reach, remote resevoir... meh

Done, and works GREAT! is a lot smoother, may have been the fluid bleed though. Same size as stock, direct bolt on. Oh, and the window is glass, and the reservoir looks to be a lil bigger, not that that is a benefit. Old fluid was almost black. Probably original. Did the rear also, and the rear feels nicer too.
Oh, and the adjustable lever is NICE.
