Title: Two-Fold Question (levers and Dominators)
Post by: murf425 on June 20, 2011, 11:15:08 AM
Okay, two questions:

1) Yesterday I was letting a buddy practice on/test ride my GS. Having just finished his BRC, he was considering buying it, so we went out to a big empty parking lot for him to give it a go. He dropped it. Twice. No big deal, except that the second one snapped the clutch lever clean off. So, until I can get out there with my ramps this afternoon, it's sitting out there. My question is this: a buddy emailed me to say that he has a spare '08-'10 GSXR lever that he'll give me if it'll work. So...is it compatible?

2) I think I'll go ahead and use this as a motivation to get started on my streetfighter conversion. Regarding headlights, I was told that, since I want Triumph-esque doubles, the Dominators are the way to go. How big of a deal is it to mount them. Just a normal set of fork brackets and plug in the existing plug? Will I need a different plug spliced onto the wires? Will I need to do any electrical work to make the new lights work? Etc?

Clutch lever is specific to the GS and a GSXR won't work. Can't help you with the headlight question.

The dominators will fit in the 7" headlight bracket if you have a naked GS. If not just purchase some. It is a plug and play mod, they will plug straight into your existing loom. Only problem I had with installing mine is, it is a tight fit and the back of the headlight will rub against the speedo cable but with a bit of coaxing it will fit. Also if you are gonna use the bolts from your old 7" headlight don't. Go buy some smaller ones from a hardware store or somewhere similar cause the OEM ones are to long. Oh, and while you are there get some zip ties. You will be amazed at the size of the loom they fit inside that headlight and you will need to tie up a few wires.
