Title: Wheel trim
Post by: ghostrider_23 on June 24, 2011, 07:57:37 AM
I've seen in a couple of places where people have either painted or used a decal to outline the edge of their rims. It looks very nice and I am thinking about doing it to my bike to add some style to the rims but I don't know what it's called or where to look.

Does anyone know what this is either paint or decal and where I may be able to find it?

Thanks

most people use the sticker/decals. its called wheel trim/stripes.

edit: i can't remember who posted it(it was a thread showing his new yellow trim) i believe he said gsxr 600 will be the correct size.

Thanks that's it.

I have a 2009 which is white & blue with the letter "F" in red. I know the blue looks good but I am thinking of going red.

Anyone have any thoughts on that combo???

Here's your basic red on a black wheel.  I believe it was 7mm but won't swear to it.

It was really easy.  Clean the rim with alcohol and apply the tape with the supplied plastic applicator.  The applicator separates the film from the tape exposing the sticky side and it then applies the tape to the wheel as you move the applicator around the circumference.  It also makes sure you maintain an even spacing all the around the rim.  Have someone push down on the backend while the bike is on the stand to do the front rim and make sure you have a sharp razor blade to make clean cuts.  Got mine from Cycle Gear.

There is a DYI guide on GS wiki that uses plain old pin stripe tape for cars. You have to make your own applicator though. It is not to hard if you have patience. I used this method for my GS. Hell if I can do it anyone can.

Go with the reflective stripes  :thumb: looks pretty neat and more visibility is always good.

I just ordered red stripe trim for the blue colored gs500 09. Let see how it goes. Anyone got pics of a blue gs with red trim? :dunno_black:
