My heart aches for familiarity

My stomach feels empty and no food can fill
Why do we have to live like this?
This is a temporary life
So full of strife

Hearing about it, reading about it
The thought of someone else's suffering brings tears to my eyes
I put myself in their shoes and it's as if I am reliving the moment through them
I feel their pain, but it is my own
In that I feel alone
No one can cry my tears
