Post by: OrTahor on November 18, 2003, 09:35:55 AM
Where can I get good comfortable gel seats (or any other comfortble seat) for my 99GS?

Suzuki sells them.  Thay are very comfortable.  Srinath had a line on them for cheap$ but I don't know if they are available any longer  :dunno:

I have one too. Hardly used, very comfy and still looks brand new. Not sure what shipping to Israel would be though!!!
Title: Interested...

I may be interested in buying a Gel seat.  I want to try one that a neighbor has, but I am having some difficulty with the stock seat.

Feel free to private mesage me with details.

Someone here must know the Suzuki part number.  From there he could go to a Suzuki dealer and ask them to order one.

I would also be interested in a gel seat, either one, let me know how much you are asking...and brand name of seat.
Thanks
Katie

This sounds like it could be a bidding war....I was also interesting in a gel seat.

I tried getting one from the dealer a while back and they said they were NLA.

But before y'all get in a bidding war, remember, Srinath's trusty Parts Depot has them for ~$120.

So if I change my stock seat out for a gel seat, will it make my seat height higher? I just  get toes down now.

It is slightly thicker. I don't have the stock one to measure by anymore, but I think it is higher. You may want to look at the Corbin - I don't think they're as thick as the gels.

Here's an animated GIF that a GStwin.com member for me a LONG time ago (in Net years, anyway).  I can't remember who it was!  Joris or Lars perhaps?

Short answer: Yes, the gel seat will raise the seat height - by some fraction of an inch.

EDIT: Changed link from sisna.com to bbburma.net

Corbin actually is harder then the stock or gel, and its contoured, so its more comfy than the stock but it also spreads you wide, and is right about as stiff as a board... so even though it looks lower than stock in a pic, its not in reality cos it compresses less and spreads your legs making you even shorter... Gel is just deeper and has the contour but it is soft and compresses and doesn't spread...
Cool.
Srinath.

If anyone want's my seat, PM me.

It goes for $115 US plus shipping.

I will take $90 for mine.  It's the same seat as the GIF up above my post.  WILL NOT NOT NOT NOT fit post 2001+.

Please only make a serious bid, as it seems like a lot of people are interested.

I am selling it for 90 because I don't want to have to ship it back to New Jersey and try to cooect my refund.  Also, I don't mind taking a bit of a hit to help out a fellow GS'er.  IF you feel guilty about getting a good deal, donate some $$ to this web site.  http://www.gstwin.com/gstwin_donation.htm

There is no mounting hardware, you will need to recycle the hardware from your current seat.

Good Day.

Yeah, I'd say 0.5"-1.0"
