Title: GPS for my GS?
Post by: warlock214 on July 01, 2011, 07:18:50 AM
Anyone uses a GPS on their GS? What brand? Suggestions how/where to mount it. How to keep its battery charged?

The Garmin Zumo is a popular choice. They are weather resistant, vibration resistant and should come with handlebar mounts (or they are available). My dad uses one on his HD and its lasted a long time through abuse and bad weather. You can wire it right up to the battery also.

i use my phone. an htc evo. i installed a cigarette port to keep it charged, then got a mounting plate for it, zip tied it to the handlebars. bluetooth it into my Sena SMH-10 intercom system, and BAM, instant google GPS, music, phone conversations, etc... :)

+1  I also have a Nuvi 255w.  I picked up a Nuvi bar mount from ebay for 4 bucks and it sits nicely on the bars.  I also installed a waterproof 12v right behind my gauge cluster for the specific purpose of charging my Nuvi while on a trip etc...
