Ok so my new shinko came in today, sadly the second I went to pick it up from the shop it started pouring rain... New tire + rain = no bueno so i had to leave it overnight... What should I do with it tomorrow? Do most people just ride it till the mold release comes off or should I hit it with a scrub brush to try and take a little off? They told me 100-200 miles before I really lay into it especially since it was the front...
After I mounted my new tires,I scrubbed them with dish soap and rinsed them good.I installed them and started out with a moderate pace for a few hundred miles and then I started to push them a little.I can't get rid of the chicken strips because I drag peg before I hit the edge.
clearly you are just a big chicken :p
I always just take it easy for the first 100 or so miles...................haven't had a problem yet in over 40,000 miles of riding on various bikes
I don't do anything special. I ride it a little easier (less lean) and gradually lean a little more over the course of a few short rides - or one longer ride. Just ride sedately around town to begin with and you'll be fine. New tire break in is not the boogie man some would make it to be.

My last tyre break in was a week of commuting followed by a trip to Khancoban and Thedbo. Managed to get most of the right side and all of the left side of a set of Sport Demons worn in nicely.
