this too :icon_lol:
thanks in advance
why?
Just curious if anyone has any pics... It looks ugly in the pic...but Im curious as to how ugly
I have a 2009 and the fairing adjacent from my front wheel is white and catches a lot of road spatter from the wheel. Not really a big deal, but was curious what kind of modification would be required (if any) and of course how ugly the damned thing is.
It would be nice to keep that part of my fairing a little cleaner, but I guess you purists would tell me to just remove the fairing :icon_lol:
you don't have a stock one on your fender?
if no just get a used on from an older GS....
if you go to the sellers home site..... NOTHING FOR A GS500
A new stock one is about $15. Watch out for people charging more for a used one.
All GS500 fenders are the same size. Drill 2 holes, install it and you're done. If you're careful, it can be done without removing the fender. (You can make a paper template to mark where the holes go)
Why? In wet weather, they help keep water off of you and the bike. Think of it as why they put mud flaps on trucks - helps keep things cleaner and dryer.
(I won't know how many extras I have until the bike cave is finished and parts are sorted. There's axles, bolts, cables, etc. scattered all over the place. Frustrating until all work is done and things get sorted out.)
Thanks for the input...
I have a stock fender on my bike...I was under the impression that this "extenda" was an add on to the stock to extend the fender below the equator line of the tire to prevent 100% of debris from hitting the radiator and belly part of the fairing. Something my stock one falls short on preventing.
If it didn't stick out like a sore thumb and didn't require too much drilling on my stock fender, I would probably consider it. I hate seeing my white fairing adjacent to the wheel take the beating it does.

Man, your GS has a radiator ... woweee ... (yea yea I am being an a$$).
Cool.
Buddha.
Ima noob... whatever the hell is under there :icon_lol:
I guess its a "oil cooler"? for lack of a better word
I added one to my 2009 GS500F. Helps keep things clean.
Yes, you do drill 2 holes in your fender to mount it. No big deal - easy to do.
All GS500 fenders are the same. They just stopped including the extra mud guard at some point.

very much so... and yes it is a radiator...
Radiators are heat exchangers used to transfer thermal energy from one medium to another for the purpose of cooling and heating. The majority of radiators are constructed to function in automobiles, buildings, and electronics. The radiator is always a source of heat to its environment, although this may be for either the purpose of heating this environment, or for cooling the fluid or coolant supplied to it, as for engine cooling.

Awesome! Exactly what I wanted to see :thumb:
Thank you sir
I hadn't realized that this was a standard part on older models...I think that is where some of the confusion came in
I think 2000 was the last year it was included.
Sometimes you can find a used front fender on ebay WITH the "fender extender" included for under $20. Doesn't make any difference how crappy the fender is - you want the added part. Get it - take it off - clean it up - put on your bike's front fender. I think that's how I came up with some - buying an extra fender or two to use for testing paint, and ended up with the extra mud flaps.
I actually found a site selling the part for about 18$ using the part number you provided. Ill probably order one soon...thanks again
I like it! Looks good and keeps crap from shooting up into every crevice that you can't clean.
