watching C.H.I.P.S. in the early 80's as a boy did me in.
i spent the next ten years convincing my parents to let me buy a bike.
We used to pretend that we were Ponch and John on our bicycles ... everyone always wanted to be Ponch.

CHiPs: The New Generation
(http://www.cgd.ucar.edu/gds/mai/images/CHP_R1.jpg)
I just don't remember it that well, though I remember some interesting stunts on those dog Kawi cop bikes.
I used to watch reruns during the summer. it came on right after Charlies Angels
i watch them.. if i see it on tv and nothing better i will watch it.
However as the seasons went by i think the story line went more predictable.
Oh well i like the pic of the CHP guy on a race bike.. i think that's too cool..
oops. this should have gone under the "why" thread.
after only two beers i get clumbsy.
My 'rents could get me to clean anything or do any odd job by hanging that show over my head. :bs: My favroite episode starred Donny Most (Ralph Malph) :dunno: from Happy days as a satanic rock singer who drove a hearse- someone was trying to kill him. 8)
Love that pic! So sweet! I remember playing chips on bikes like it was only ten years ago! Good memories. Now we can play it on the real thing. :)
Today, the real CHiPs ride slick modern looking BMW 1200's.
LAPD, still drives those big old style Kawis. :dunno:
Last years Chinese new years parade was started by the LAPD doing a sort of motorcycle ballet. It was very cool. They were locking brakes and making the engines scream a bit. All while pulling off a well choreographed show. Not what I was expecting to see but I enjoyed it.
how hypocritical. if i did that i'd get a heavy ticket or arrested. this just shows the power abuse inherent in the system.
jk.
I always wanted to be Ponch. Now I have a paunch, is that close enough?
Here in Washington we have motorcycle cops. Washington Highway Motor Patrol - W.H.I.M.P.'s
I spend a fair bit of time in Malta, I think the coppers there must watch CHPS because they ride around in pairs doing a very good imitation, the really funny thing to me as they often pull into a pub for a swiftie!
