Title: Messed up mirror, would like your help!
Post by: MrTeek on July 10, 2011, 04:32:19 PM
Hey guys. I have a mirror on my gs that has a typical ball and socket join connecting the mirror to the stem.

I accidentally put a little much oil in the ball joint and now its way too lubricated. Basically the mirror doesn't hold a position it just flops around when riding.

Any idea what I can do to get the oil out, or gum it up a bit so the mirror holds? I've tried copious amounts of crazy glue which surprsingly has no effect :dunno_black: Thanks in advance!

Can you rinse out the oil with a liquid degreaser? Something that will evaporate afterwards. Acetone, kerosene or gasoline come to mind. Be careful not to let the chemical spill over onto the bike as it may damage paint etc.

Hey thats a good idea, I'm going to try that out. Hopefully an acetone wash will take care of it
