Title: I see the Jardine went up! Damn!
Post by: alyoopz on July 10, 2011, 08:20:26 PM
Anyone know of any better price than the 385.95 at pipecity?  When did it go up from 350?

Well, I guess I'll have to cough up another 40 bucks...  Would anyone care to comment on the K&N drop-in vs. the lunch box?  Significant HP gain with the lunch box?  I'm inclined to go with the drop-in, but is there enough of a difference to warrant using the lunchbox?  Other than the suspension mods (and jetting, of course), that's about all I plan to do at this point.  Does a fork brace make a noticable difference?

I'm planning on .90s for the forks and I got a Kat 600 shock for the rear.  I weigh about 192, so maybe 200 with gear.  I ride pretty hard and want to put it on the track at my leisure.

I would appreciate suggestions!

Thanks,
Al

After re-reading a bit, I think I'll go with the lunchbox.  It may wear the top end a little quicker, but I guess I'll have to work on those ports a bit when I redo it  :  )
And that'll mean cams...   Does it ever end?  :  )

K&N lunch box really doesn't wear out your cams. It usually wears the cyls. It also doesn't happen over night. I'd rate it @ over 30K, lets see, I ran 20K then put it on and ran tp 50K before I would ahve even thought it was a bit far gone. So 30K minimum.
Cool.

In my opinion, I would definitely go with the lunch box over a drop-in. If you're jetting anyway, you might as well. I've found them cheaper than the drop-in, and if it's cheaper, and breathes better, then why not?

I'm gonna need some jets from you soon, Buddha!  I didn't mean that the lunchbox would accelerate wear on the cams (Suzuki trained tech, remember), I was just saying that if I had the heads off to do the cylinders, might as well do some port work and throw in some cams, eh?  If I get 30K out of the engine before I need to rehab the top end, that ain't too bad  :   )  I'll PM soon  ~

Thanks, Ramen!

Got one on order from them through Amazon.  351.49 and I think that is the best price around nowadays...  How are your springs working out and how nuch do you weigh, if you don't mind me asking?  I was 191.2 this morning and I plan to go with .90s.  How's your jetting working out?  I'm going with a lunchbox and the jets that Buddha will send.

Seeya,
Al

adding an exhaust and intake does gain much HP maybe like 5hp if lucky. you would do it for the hell of it.
