Title: Powdercoating the Engine Covers > Heat Concerns
Post by: illenium on July 11, 2011, 11:26:31 AM
Hi Guys,

has anyone here experience with powercoating the engine casings
on the GS500, i have seen it on bikes with liquid cooled engines but not
a GS, i'm a bit concerned the bike will get to hot and re-melt the powder.

I bought a GS in December with engine damage and replaced the whole
motor, i want to coat the casings (eventually the cylinder also) of the old
one after the broken internals.

Any input is much appreciated  :)

If High temp paint works assume PC should be fine.

No issues with PC.Just make sure that who ever does it mask off the mating surfaces and uses silicone plugs in the passages and bolt holes.
