Hoping y'all can help me.
My negative battery cable does not want to stay connected to the post. Any ideas on how to get it to stay down?
Here's what happens.....
Put key in ignition, turn to on. No lights.
Use key to remove seat. Check battery cables. Looks ok. Reinstall seat.
Put key in ignition, turn to on. Lights. Ok, good.
Hit starter. Loud click. Lights go out. Remove key.
Use key to remove seat. Negative battery cable sproings upwards off the post. Finesse cable onto post. Reinstall seat.
REPEAT ABOVE VERSE 1 to 3 times.
Put key in ignition. Lights come on. Hit starter. Bike starts.
Ride 3 blocks. Bike dies. Pull to side of road and remove seat. Negative battery cable sproings upwards off the post. :x
It took me almost half an hour to ride half a mile home from work tonight. Good thing it was midnight and no traffic.
Can anyone help me before I go insane?
Can anyone help me with my battery problem?
Thanks
Gob
Try getting a new set of harware for the battery. Little screw/"box" nut. ASSuming that is the set-up you have. I had that problem awhile back and that fixed it for me. You can find that stuff at your local dealer.
If it is like a car battery, turn the post over and try it that way. Most battery terminals will smooth out, I have had the same problem on a car battery terminal. Something you might want to try.

Yep, you lost the little retaining nut that goes underneath the post. If you have the bolt, you could just go to a hardware store a get a new nut.
