Title: gonna "jet" my gs after...
Post by: rwillower on July 16, 2011, 12:03:13 PM
i've finally put enough miles on the bike to have it being no longer "new" or not broken in fully
and it still has the lean condition at 60-65mph so heres my question.
buddah sent me a jet kit back in april for this condition... i have yet to install it
and am ready to now after a long ride the other day of its constant slight flat spot/cut outs....
around town or anywheres under 55 its fine and i dont feel it. back to the point i guess all
i want to know is when i re-jet this do i HAVE to sync the carbs? i have no clue or the time
to be messing with something i dont fully understand. i know how to and can swap jets all day long and put things back
together no problem.. thats what im hopeing all i have to do..

Nope- not unless you want to/feel it needs it.

Might want to take a day and do the jets, valve adjustment, change the oil, etc though.

also once i "pop" in these jets.... do i need to make any adjustments as far as needle height or adjust the air screw?
or is it just as easy as popping the new jets in?

If it's been 400 miles, they should be good.

Jetting isn't usually a yes or no type science. You may or may not need a shim, pilot jets, have to mess with the mixture screw, etc. Put the mains in and take it for a spin.
