Title: Removing Stickers on stock tank
Post by: junk301 on July 18, 2011, 10:41:44 AM
Hi all,

I wanted to take the stickers off my stock tank. they are white lines that run virtically on he side of the tank.  It seems to me that the stickers are laminated over. any clue how to remove them???

I think it's under the clearcoat.

The way I removed all my decals was 80 grit sand paper.. followed by 220 grit sandpaper.....

Some of the newer bikes have clear coat over them. You would have a mess if you tried to remove them with clear coat over them.

You have a thick clear over them. They are not like the warning stickers that come off carefully with a heat gun.
You will have to sand them down then repaint the tank. That means you're sanding down the clear coat before you ever get to the decals.
If your tank is perfect, buy a scratched one to repaint and sell your perfect tank. People are always looking for un-scratched tanks.

Enjoy!
