Title: LED Lights
Post by: mwdbruno on November 19, 2003, 03:41:35 PM
I've seen a number of posts/topics on LED taillights for the GS and am looking for a bit of clarification.
I have seen a screw in replacement for the stock 1157 bulb that is all LED.  Do these work for our bikes?  If they do, is it recommended to replace the stock red lens with a clear (I'm thinking of doing this anyway)?
If I'm not rehashing an old subject here, I deserve some abuse!   :guns:

Thanks in advance!
Lane

I'll spare you the abuse and link you to the thread.

A member here makes them (JeffD), unless something has changed and he no longer does and i missed it, for $41. In the thread i gave you there is a link to another thread where he introduced them.

the 1157 replacements suck. very little light output-especially with red lens. Not quite so bad with clear but still far less light than stock or than JeffD's (which ROCK). I've got them on my site if you want to see more pics of them.

I tried the 1157 replacements on my bike, they didn't light up enough to even use.  Extremely dim, even with clear tail.  I'm guessing the built-in resistor is offering too much resistance, probably more intended to be used in car.  In any case, it didn't work out  :(
