Title: Anyone ever shattered a piston?
Post by: afterbooster on August 03, 2011, 11:25:01 AM
I was unaware that this was possible... My first thought that caused this was low oil, but I drained 2.5 qts from the plug...

After reading the GS600R forum... I think I'm going to give it a shot. Just curious has anyone ever seen this happen before? or was this the day I got lucky. :o

Anyone in the Minneapolis area with a 600 engine?
Or I'm looking for a GOOD crankshaft, not one with a journal all scratched up...

In the 80's I had a Yamaha 250 that shattered the piston. It was a kick start and shattered on kicking when it decided to backfire.
So - yes - it can happen.
