Title: upgrading the engine sprocket 98' 500E
Post by: robb472 on August 09, 2011, 05:27:38 AM
It's time for a new chain so both sprockets getting done as well. I would like to go up a tooth or two on the front to increase speed at lower RPM but I'm not sure if I can get the larger sprocket without having to change out the drive shaft creating a whole new project! can anybody shed some light? To be more specific, where might I find a 17-18 tooth sprocket that would fit the stock driveshaft? what cross-model and year would I look to if necessary?

I went from the standard 16 tooth to a 17, didn't even have to change the chain length.
