i need to switch the push and pull cables at the carbs i was wondering how involved it is it looks like i got to remove alot of stuff to get to it and i was wondering is there any tricks to doing it thanks
I could be wrong (I don't own a gs500) but I thought there is only one throttle cable?
If you mean you are installing a new cable, just undo each end of the old cable, tape the "carb side" of the new cable to the "throttle side" of the old cable. Gently pull the old cable- the new one may snag a couple times- but you will retain the original routing.
Newer bikes have dual throttle cables. Older bikes have just one.
Good to know Addy- thanks.
If it's just swapping cables, then using some twine or string to run the cables would work as well.
Yep. What you said would work - just have 2 cables to run (and don't reverse them!)
do i need to pull the airbox off to do the cables if so how hard is it to pull it out thanks

Not hard and it is a bit of a pain to get bad in.Use some WD40 or some thing to oil the rubber carb boots. You can set your throttle like the older bikes and use a single cable or use dual cable set up.Dual cable set up requires both cables, right hand controls, and dual cable throttle twist tube.Carbs must be the newer style to accept the dual cable set up.
