Title: Technical Carb Questions

I have some highly technical questions about the carbs on the 2001+ gs. I've been reading information on carbs, but none of them are specific to the gs.

1. There are two eletrical plugs on the carbs, one is connected to the vacuum tubes and the other to the throttle. What do they do and how do they work?
2. When I engage the fuel enricher/"choke", I can see how it opens up an air passage below the diaphram (seen as item 4 of http://vtxstar.com/sitebuilderImages/Carbs/Choke_OEM.JPG (http://vtxstar.com/sitebuilderImages/Carbs/Choke_OEM.JPG)). But I can't find where the starter jet is in the exploded parts catalog on bikebandit (http://www.bikebandit.com/2004-suzuki-gs500f/o/m6061#sch503304 (http://www.bikebandit.com/2004-suzuki-gs500f/o/m6061#sch503304)). What gives?
3. I know in theory, different jets open at different throttle positions, but I have no idea how that could be possible by just looking at the carbs. I don't see any sort of valves connected to any of the jets (aside from the main jet that leads to the needle valve).
4. What the hell does the diaphragm do? Does it pull up the needle valve when there's an increase in vacuum?
5. Why are the venturi holes facing the airbox?
6. When you have a float problem and gas floods into the engine, what jet does it travel through? In this situation, does the majority of gas flow to the airbox or the engine?

Thanks to you mechanical gurus for the answers. Sorry if this is a repost, but I couldn't find this information in any searches.

Hmmmmmm. Well, jets work on the venturi affect: as air is passed thru the center, it "siphons" gas thru the jets and atomizes with the air. Google carbs venturi affect for a better explanation than I can give.

When gas floods the carbs, it goes through every opening it can- if you park the bike on an incline (facing up) then it will go to the lower point- hopefully out your airbox.

Oh ya, the venturi holes are facing the airbox to utilize the incoming air pressure.

enrichener circuts feed extra fuel, not air. the diaphram is opened by vacuum from the cylinder. the jets or circuts in carbs do not open or close with valves, but they overlap each other as rpm increases. eg. the idle circut feeds some fuel througout the rpm range. if it was plugged the engine would run rough at low rpm and better as rpm increased, but the overall mixture would be leaner as that circut was not feeding fuel. i have yet to remove the gs carbs, but they appear similar to the carbs on my rx1, that i have disected many times.
