You don't always get a choice about the other riders around you. Go up a popular section of mountain road on a sunday morning when every man and his 1098 are out for a hoon and if you're sitting on the speed limit you will get guys like that trying to share your lane in the corners.
I hate when people ride too close. That guy got seriously lucky that he slid right between 2 of those poles.
