I searched through the post and could not find an answer.
Back in my dirt days I speed shifted without hand lever. I'm knew to road bikes and I use the clutch lever for all shifts. My question is, will shifting without clutch lever do damage? I'm assuming it does.
IMHO.There are mixed thoughts on this. There really is no one correct anwser.Shifting with out the clutch will cause some wear. How fast the wear becomes an issue depends on how smooth you shift without the clutch.I have done clutchless shifting but I prefer to use my clutch.I took the time and spent the money to do a clutch up grade.I'm gonna use it. :thumb:
My understanding is that the gearbox requires you to take the load off it to shift, and that it doesn't really make any difference whether you do this by pulling in the clutch, or rolling off the throttle. I'm hardly an expert on motorcycle transmissions, so anyone who knows different should feel free to chime in.
As long as im at 3k rpm in any gear i can shift up or down without the clutch. I dont do it often, because it will increase the wear.. and i dont wanna replace the clutch anytime soon!
Id suggest using the clutch, if you practice you can shift pretty quick even using the clutch..
you can do no clutch up without much problem unload the gear box and go (thats what sequential boxes are designed for)
NEVER NO CLUTCH DOWN!
