Title: The Beast in Black! 2004 GS500F Restore/upgrade
Post by: crzydood17 on August 28, 2011, 06:20:55 AM
Well, my baby is finally in ship shape.

So far I have done...
15 Tooth Front Sprocket
New O-ring Chain
LED Front Blinkers
LED Integrated Tail
Valve Job .05 Intake .13 Exhaust
All New Valve Cover Gaskets
Fixed Fairings
Fenderectomy
GSXF 600 Rear Shock

Thats about it for now coming soon...
Carbon fiber 3m Wrap
Solid Under tail Cover
Total Fenderectomy
V&H Pipe (refinished totally black)
Lunch Box/Individual Filter (it never rains in Austin so I don't fear the hydro lock)
Jets
Upgraded Gauges (Vapor Dashboard or SV)
Black Engine Covers
Re-Upholster Seat (maybe a little rebuild of the foam/gel inserts)

Pics up soon, I didn't take rebuild pictures because I was a ball of grease...

hey,

I just bought shinko sr740, same as one in the pictures...

I have done  600-700miles on it and I am extremely satisfied. cheap and does the trick.

I can't find any reviews, but a few references here and there, all very bad.

basically tire to avoid. But my experience is totally different.

What about yours?

tnx.

I have had no real issues with my shinko, it rides great but does run low on air more often than I would like.

The fender had a parking sticker for UT from the previous owner, it was basically welded onto the fender. I have pulled the fender and removed the offending sticker, but I have yet to put it back on.

Another thing I forgot to add to the list was a upgraded fork brace, holy cow that thing is AWESOME! feels sooo responsive, my wish is the bikes command.

I put on IRC roadwinners front and rear, and am very happy with the tires.  they're kind of meh in the wet, but its hard to tell if its the tire, or the new blacktop they're putting everywhere that seems to bleed oil in the rain.
on normal days, even if I make a mistake or push the bike too hard they are very forgiving and i am always able to regain control.

Bringing back an old post!

dood,

I bought a kat wheel and in the middle of trying to decide what tire to put on it. I'm strongly considering the BT-023. Just wondering if you had any thoughts or opinions on the tire. I'd be running the same size, 150/70.

Also, I was wondering if you had to bend the brake lever bar or space the sprocket out to clear the tire at all.

Thanks!

I would love to go all out, bore the engine, new cams, up the redline, redo the valves and port it, throw in new springs, throw in emulators, and go balls to the wall with the little thing, but I also want a F4i one of these days and I don't have the money for 2 bikes. I would like to get the F4i before they get so old and rare that I can't pick up a clean 01-03.
