No my strategy is hack of Johnny wilkonsons arms and legs and beat him to death with the blooded limbs.
IIRC onlypastrana199? ( here on gstwin ) played rugby. was either rugby or lacrosse. am envious of whomever can play either one. collisions like football minus padding. quite painful

Maybe you'd like to see some Australian Rugby League. And particularly the State Of Origin series - talk about big men, big hits, no padding.

- Cause there is no break every couple of minutes - just right for inserting TV ads.
- Cause there is too much money in it as it is with TV rights, etc., to blow that investment and have Another popular sport.
- Cause it only goes for it's set time and that's it, there is no 60 minute game that takes 3 hours to play - when Aust brought the State of Origin to the US they had to delay the game due to the slackness of the crowd to actually arrive at kickoff (the crowd did not understand the game doesn't go for 3 hours like Gridiron and would have missed most of the game if it had started on time).
- Americans are not good at it compared to the rest of the world

I agree that American's arnt as good, but thats cause we dont have a very large following here to pull from for a damn good international team. unlike other countrys that have there starting 15 that have been training to be on a world cup team for there entire lives (just FYI it's all on Ireland for the world cup :flipoff:)
Hell no it's the wallabies turn to reclaim the title again!
The "not enough people play it" thing just doesn't seem to wash well with me. I mean, Australia as a minuscule 20 million people, the USA has 15 times that man people, NZ has maybe 4.5 million. I'd bet there are more people in the USA playing Rugby than in NZ. But I think the USA's problem with Rugby is the same as Australia's with soccer... not enough Good competition locally to force people to Elevate their game, and as any semi-good ones are spotted, they leave the country to play elsewhere keeping the local comp weak, and with a weak comp no improvement happens.

i agree mostly. in the US, our sports are the NFL, NBA, NHL in most northn locales, and nascrap. have to get my rugby fix by either hitting the net looking for games being played elsewhere , or find some ivy league schools playing a match.
Rugby, it's a great game but everyone knows that god plays cricket.
Ain't that the truth!
I recall a famous Rugby player ( is there such a thing?) making fun of American football, saying that he; "Would jump out of a fu*kin airplane without a parachute with that much padding".
yamma, it's becoming alot bigger, my university plays in the Wisconsin college union last year there was one division of 8 teams this year there are 3 division of 8 teams each. it's kinda the same as soccer (real football) is becoming a bigger US sport as we start to do a little better competing with the rest of the world
Three things that never did and never will catch on in America;
1. Julio Iglesias. ( and he tried everything imaginable for years ).
2. Soccer.
3. Rugby.
4. Kylie Minogue (she keeps trying but the USA already ha enough talentless girls prancing around like sluts in music videos to import one.)
5. Rugby League
6. Aussie Rules football
7. Cricket

Show me a better formed ass! go on do it show me!
I remeber at boarding school many many years ago we gave american football a go for something to do on a saturday arvo, no pads it was fun we even made all the hut hut break 24 hike noises for a laugh lol fun times. But yeah I dont get all the padding. You want a real tough man game you cannot beat rugby league or union and to a lessor extent gafl (aussie rules) I seen some pretty big hits and punch ups there.
I know this might be sacrilegious for an Aussie, but I actually know more rules for Gridiron than Rugby League :o
I can throw a football better than I can kick one or rugby pass one - and I must say, better than the quarterbacks I saw many moons ago down in Sydney when the game was just getting started down here.
I work with a guy who plays in the local Brisbane comp.

I agree, i played Football when i was in highschool and didnt really enjoy it much. but when i got to college i decided to give rugby a try (dont know why since they are so similar) and i LOVE it, it has to come from the fact that you dont have pads (except maybe a scrum cap which hardly counts) and that you never stop playing the ball. we did an experiment in one of my college classes to see just how long a game of football is?
the result is that if you fast forwork though all the huddles and the waiting inbetween plays, and only watch when the ball is in play. you can watch an entire profecenal game in about 11min lol
Yep too right.

Yup. Record the game the fast forward between all the non play action. Play from just before the snap tp just after the play finished and you'll see you spend more time fast forwarding than watching. And will be done in pretty quick time.
Michael
unlike Rugby where you will fast forword maybe 10mins out of the 80
