Title: Name my GS
Post by: missk8t on September 06, 2011, 10:52:45 PM
Ok, so I've been pooring (pouring?... I dunno) anyway, I've been looking over the forums and having a good read and a giggle then thought why not start this interesting/entertaining/time-wasting thread.

I wanna name my bike but can't think up a good name. I know it's a female because I'm already getting testy with it (yes I'm a chick too). So here's a pic and now I'm throwing the question out..

What shall I call her?

And sorry, Biotch is already taken by my piece of crap car. Heh!

Bikes and cars for that matter are usually a reflection of the owners attitude towards them ... if you're nice to them, they'd be nice to you ... if you pretty them up and irnore em mechanically, they will look pretty while being broke down ... you get the idea ...
Ergo I'd name it Missy cos you're MissK8t.
Cool.

Surprised the guys aren't all over the girl on girl remarks LOL!

What is some of her characteristics? Like when I bought Flick my BF named him becase of the antenna , he was blue, and really will flick in the curves. Hence his name is Flick. When you walked up to your girl what was your first thought?

Also, Buddha I have babied Flick talked nice to him and he is still being a PITA!

what about jez. or jezebel. in a roundabout way. going from princess to whore. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jezebel as in looking good, , but also putting your money into her to get what you wishout of her. etc

Haha! I'm loving some of these suggestions. Please keep them coming! There are a couple which I've really liked, Missy (thanks Buddha, but regarding your naming comment: Once upon a time my car was once called Ally, then she turned evil!  I gave her numerous strokes of mechanical love and even took her to a "qualified" doctor. But alas, he said "If I were you, I would sell that car, she's going to give you nothing but grief" Hmm..)

Jez, Janet, Rachel... I'm liking them all but I reckon one will just pop so keep 'em coming. However.... Period??? HAHAHA I don't think so!

Mary to answer your question about her characteristics I reckon they'd be something like absolutely beautiful but lethal. I took her out for a ride today (2nd time) and it was pretty good. She's very forgiving when I accidently hit the wrong gear or gave her throttle whilst I was trying to pull on the front brake (the lever needs some adjusting), lastly I stalled her. Overall, I think we're going to be a great pair and I can't wait until I've practiced enough so I can take her out for a proper ride, not just around the block for an hour.

Oh I forgot to mention one of her little "quirks". She was accidently dropped in the garage by her previous owner, not a great deal of damage other than a crack in the front fairing (under mirror) so otherwise she's been well looked after.

Her mods thus far are heated grips, 17 tooth front sprocket and pirelli sport demon tyres. Once my parts turn up I'll be upgrading to Philips Xtreme Vision 100% H4 bulb, Philips Blue Vision W5W parking light, LED gauges, GSXR indicators and LED tail light. Possible fenderectomy but I'm still tossing on that one.

Hazel.

Fenderectomy. Understand if you get pulled over buy the cops they'll do you for it. Now you know you can take the risk fully informed.

Dalia - a bit of a jinx name IMO.

Nyota. As in Nyota Uhura from Star Trek. In the original series with Shatner, her and Williams on screen kiss was the first brown/cream kiss on TV. In the 2009 movie, again a brown/cream kiss was had. if you are Cream and the bike is brown (black) then together you are like that first onscreen moment.

Of course, you'd also be Ebony and Ivory together in harmony. Maybe Harmony?

Wow. I didn't know that. Thank you for telling me as it does put another spin on things!

Love the names you suggested too Michael.

well since she has some quirks you should name her quirky :)

By the same logic since she is "quick" you could call her ... you get the idea.

She's into that Girl on girl thing, so she could be Ellen.

But then she's also rideable by a guy ... maybe she should therefore be Anne (Heche). Man was she cute before she went confused ...

Cool.

Buddha I can't call her Anne, that's my mum's name and it's just way too weird.

Veronica - thank you Elvis Costello. You can call me anything you like, but my name is Veronica

Bippy

Zard

Sage

Sade' - as in the singer from the 80s

Pencil

Pezette

Michael - not a suggestion, my sign off.

Well I took her out for a ride yesterday (2 hours in the saddle and my ar$e was numb as!). I'm slowly getting better but whilst riding I had an epiphany on her name. I've been thinking of all the suggestions given and tossing over them but yesterday a name just came into my head and suits perfectly.

The winner is.... Miah  :woohoo:

Miah is Australian Aboriginal for moon, it's prounced Me-AH. This is getting all deep here but I thought since the moon guides you when you're walking at night. My bike is kinda guiding me into riding. Lemme know what you think.

Nila - moon in tamil.
Yea the old languages all sound similar.

OK so if you ride somewhere ... you're mooning people ... I guess you are to the ones behind you ... so OK it works both ways ... not that I'm implying anything about those both ways ... why are we talking about Anne Heche again ... boy was she cute though before she went lumberjack.

Cool.
Buddha.

Haha I love it Buddha. It's be great if cops were following me cos that will be the only time I can moon them. Hehe
