So I was out riding today when my bike started to make a racket on the left side. I was most displeased. When I pulled up to an intersection and my bike would not go in gear. I was even more unhappy when I looked down and saw a brokem master link and half my chain on the ground. It wouldn't be such a big deal except I was aways from home with no ride home, and, I had just picked the bike up from the shop a day ago. I had it there to have a new chain put on...great job bike shop. Great job.....this is just me venting :2guns: thank you all for listening...haha
lol i guess they never lubed it
I don't know what they did. But im taking it back and not paying to have it fixed
There is a right way and a wrong way to install the master link clip. I always holdn the clip up to the chain and then imagin the wheel rotating as trhe bike moves forward. The clip needs to be oriented so that centrifugal force acts to push the clip in the direction that seats it rather than pushes it off. They either installed the clip in the wrong direction or they didn't seat the clip all the way so it snaps in place. If they were open they should have sent someone to fix it on the spot or else pick up the bike and haul it to the shop and fix it for free AND a big apology.
Yes. They should have came. However, when I called them, the only thing they told me was, well we can give you a new master link...I was like no...you need to fix it. Ha. I was p***ed.
Was it a clip type master link or a rivet type?
Either way, glad to hear it came off when you weren't moving fast.....
any updates?

I would have called the bike shop and told them to come pick me and the bike up...
glad you didn't go fast when that happened, it could have had very nasty consequences!
I'd never give that shop any more business. If they can't install new chain properly there's probably not much they can do the right way...
