Because a stud snapped off in my head, I decided to pull the motor and have the head machined.
It took me and a friend just 45 minutes to drop the motor.
Before I pull the head, what parts should I have on hand to replace during reinstallation?
I have the repair manual but it wasn't very clear on what needs to be changed.
Thanks
I haven't done a head... So perhaps someone else could review this list...
Typically though, you're going to want to replace the head gasket. You may also wish to have a spare valve cover gasket, and possibly a spare PCV cover gasket. You should also have engine assembly lube handy.
And while you're at it you might as well replace the milk in the handlebars. Don't use powdered. :thumb:

New head gasket. I attempted to reuse the old one and spray copper on it, it didn't work. I reused all other gasket and they sealed fine. A gasket kit would be nice but I couldn't find one at the time I did mine. Main concerns for sealing for me was the head gasket, the o-ring washers that go with head gasket and the bottom cylinder gasket. And be a good time to replace valve stem seals
Make sure you don't forget the o-rings that let the top end get oil pressure! :thumb:
