Title: Help Bike wont start
Post by: GS303 on September 25, 2011, 07:40:59 AM
I have a 2007 GS500F  with 8K on it. I was noticing the clutch did not seem to be acting right so I read on here that adjusting the clutch cable and fresh oil might help.

I adjusted all the slack out of the clutch handle and then changed the oil. This was all I did. Now the bike wont start. All of the lights like the netural light and oil light come on and the headlights are bright. Now when I hit the starter switch while holding the clutch in It will not engage the starter. If I put it in gear and put the kickstand up and pull the clutch in it still wont start.

The kill switch is in the run position.

I tried to push start it by putting it in second gear and pop the clutch but much to my sadness when the bike is in gear and the clutch is engaged the bike rolls like it is in netural or has the clutch in.

Any ideas?

Maybe you adjusted the clutch too much/wrong?

it ended up to be that when I adjusted the clutch cable I knocked the connector to the saftey attached to the clutch handle a little loose. I snugged it backup real tight and the bike started. Once the bike started and the oil started to pump through the engine then the clutch started to work.

Why does doing something simple always end up to be harder then it needs to be?
