Title: Is the press shafting the republican field ?
Post by: The Buddha on September 28, 2011, 01:27:25 PM
OK there is a lot of talk about all the republican candidates for the nomination. But they seem to overwhelmingly be talking about who's got what "gaffe" where and who's fizzling out where ...

Worse yet the biggest disservice IMHO they did in 08 was to "elect" a front runner on the democratic side. How many times did we hear "democratic front runner Hillary Clinton" WTF, who made her front runner, and why. Stop saying that crap ...

Now sadly they are doing the reverse. They have picked a front runner, as soon as that guy/gal stumbled, they picked another, and then another and they now are talking about those who are not even in the race Chris Christie and Sarah Palin in the mean time the steady as she goes ones - Ron paul in particular is getting no press, cos he doesn't do stupid sheiete every other day. We all are for freedom of the press, but its time to impose a limit on freedom of conjecture on the press.

I dont think they elected Obama the way you're saying ... McCain shot himself in the foot with the "Joe the plummer" routine. The press picked up and ran with it and found he was delinquent on taxes on his house etc. The best part was, McCain picked Joe cos Joe asked a question to Obama about taxing the 250K+ income group, when Joe was barely making 50k. It became clear to every one with 1/2 a brain that Joe is delusional or has a different beef with Obama. That was clear to everyone that is except McCain.

The way the press elected Obama was that they buried Ron Paul, boosted McCain and McCain and those yellow teeth of his and the Joe the plummer routine and the "financial system is fine" and the "I'll stop campaigning and go to washington" all pointed to a deer in the headlights who is out of touch with reality and toothpaste for that matter ...

Press boosted McCain, and Hillary, instead they should have boosted Ron Paul and kept their nose out of the democrap side.

I constantly saw Hillary this and that ... seriously.

Looking at US politics from the outside without any partisanship I have always found it odd that the opposition (especially when trying to oust a sitting president) go through a truncated period of public blood letting and mud slinging within their own party. It seems pretty obvious that the press are going to seize upon the scraps and blow the slightest difference into "a story"

We seem to be constantly told that the US press is "left wing" whereas in UK the press are generally said to be right wing with  a couple of notable exceptions on both sides. through satelite broadcasting I occasionally dip into US news stations as well as other countries. I have to say that watching Fox you would think there was an election every week in the US the way they hype everything up. - I realise it ain't typical but you must admit it's hilarious!

Dont you just miss OMW at times like this  :D :D :D

Cal - good to see you back man.
US Press is right wing, dominated and lead by your compadre who still surprinsingly is a free man ...

I'd like to try and use The "man I didn't know cramming this knife in his throat will make him bleed and die man" excuse when I am tried for murder ... cos essentially that is the defense from all the corporate crooks ... like "we didn't know taking money from people telling them sub prime mortgages are the best was going to result in losses for them" ... and we are so super smart we deserve 800 million a year that we pay 15% taxes on ...

Oh well atleast Faux news is rabidly right leaning ... the rest is well still very right leaning, hollywood is left leaning though. If you watch a lot of entertainment based TV its left, news and business based, its right. Radio overwhelmingly is right surprisingly so if you ask me.

Cheers for that Buddha. As for me being back, i never went away. I visit the site often but don't post a lot these days. Good to see you still leading from the front. What happened to your cricket team? Good to see that they are now putting an emphasis on youngsters instead of endless soul-searching and inquests.

Cricket - yea we are pathetic, how did that whole SA and WI beating team give up is what  I want to know. I think it was too much cricket, However the whole billion people population is producing a lot of mediocre players with delusions of grandeur.
Lets see if they get any better, and yea there are too many senior citizens in the squad, and there is a whole generation that has not ever made it on the big stage and hence now are also past their due date, Mohammed kaif, Hemang Badani, even Yuvraj singh to an extent have missed out ... Gautam gambir is comming back so that can be good.

EVER. well some were caught up in it. thankfully housing values here where im at were not impacted hardly. will help me once estate is finished with probate. the press elected our magical president we have now. we see how that went LMAO.
