Title: HELP! Bike wont start
Post by: pdx dino burner on October 03, 2011, 08:44:15 AM
Hey all, I need urgent help.

Ive got a 09 that has less then 2500 miles, I ride everyday rain or shine. Bike is always stored inside or under cover. Has had all regular scheduled maintenance and I dont really smash on it.
The Issue: Rode to work last night and parked under the cover out of the rain, worked an 8 hour shift (like every night) and went to start it and no dice. The electrics come on and the bike tries to start but then it just makes a clicking sound. Dont know what to do, and its all the transportation Ive got.

Thanks in advance,

W

Will need to check battery voltage.  Look for loose connections.  Can you bump-start it? (get rolling in 2nd gear with clutch pulled, choke on, dump the clutch.  If the rear tire skids, do it again in 3rd gear)

Ill try that when I get back to work, gonna bring my trickle charger and some distilled water with me. If the bump start doesnt work Ill pull the battery, check the levels and charge it while Im working. I hope the battery is just low.

You could have left it in PARK all day and drained the battery.
I added a white LED inside my fairing connected to the running light. If I put bike in park, it is ON and is where I can easily see it as I get off the bike. If you don't look at the headlamp or tail, you might not know you put the bike into park.

Just got the bike home, bump start worked perfect. Thanks guys! Now on the trickle charger.

@ adidasguy: Yeah, Ive done that one before, totally sucked. At least that time it was in my garage.
