Okay so I almost wrecked today because there is something wrong with my rear brakes. I had to stop abruptly and when I pushed my rear brake down hard my rear end just started wobbling and my rear brakes stopped working and made this awful banging noise.
I have no idea what the problem is and was wondering if anyone has had this happen before? Will replacement brakes fix this problem?
Cyber crystal ball not working right now; need more info. Give rear brake a good visual inspection. Are the pads installed correctly? is teh caliper still bolted in place, no missing or loose bolts? Look for any road debris in caliper, like wire or such. Is the rotor in good condition and firmly bolted to wheel? If you are not familiar with brake service, get help -- its your brakes for cats'sake!

Not sure what you meant by that, but thanks. I will have to check those out...
Could be lots of loose and/or missing things back there. Get someone THERE to help you, but from your description it sounds like a loose rear axle or bad wheel bearing.
If something comes up with the caliper or brake assy... I've got an extra one laying around, two actually...
Similar symptons when i forgot to tighten the axle nut after having the wheel off...

What I meant to communicate was that brakes are so critical to safe operation, that the person trouble shooting and correcting brake problems should have some experience with brake work. If you feel comfortable working with brakes, GREAT! If not, soak-up what you can here and get hands on experienced help to show you how to.
