Title: Rear wheel swap question for the pros
Post by: Briggs on November 25, 2003, 11:41:38 AM
I have the chance to get my hand on a 91 GSXR 750 rear. I have seen it up close and it looks like it will fit, cush and all. The thing i am wondering is why most sites recomend the 88 thru 89 rear wheel. To me they look exactly the same, at least in most of the pics I have seen online. Does anyone know the difference, if any?

Make sure the cush drive fits and the brake disk has the same diameter as the GS brake disk. Als measure the wheel`s wide in the center. Maybe it`s a bit too wide in the center. I don`t know if it fits. Best thing is to take a look at bikebandit.com and see if the wheels are different (different part number) from a 1989 gsxr and a 1991 gsxr. Good luck!

um....
because the 91 GSXR750 rear wheel is a 5.5x17
hint....
it's toooooo wide for the swingarm/chain/brake stay
88-89 were 4.5
90 was 5.0
the width is cast into the rim....either on the rim
lip or one of the spokes

or you can try to see if it fits and then tell pablo.
