Title: Rear shock question.
Post by: CraiGDaniel on October 11, 2011, 08:20:10 PM
Hi all. Will this shock fit a 93'GS500E as a direct bolt-on (no mods?)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-GSX600-F-GSX-600F-REAR-SHOCK-YEAR-1989-/150609723554?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item23110a00a2

Also can someone just give me a heads up if it looks to worn. Looking to upgrade from the standard for better 2-up riding.

Cheers

A GSX600 shock will bolt directly on a GS500. That one, however, looks very rusty. Try to find one in good nick, as you guys say.

Yeah... Should fit, but I would definitely look for one that hasn't been abused. God knows how many miles are on that, and whether or not the seals are any good now.

Look for a newer model R6 shock.  It's bolt on with the lower mounting hardware (I'm told) for the R6 and you can get one that's a lot newer than something like you're looking at.  I had to make a couple of spacers for mine but the R6 shock is well worth the effort.

Keep looking. I got one off a 99 that was in good shape for $25. Make sure u adjust preload before bolting everything back together.  Mine was set at 4 and was way too stiff, I had to unbolt the dogbones to get the adjuster in and set it down to 1.

Keep looking. That looks like a POS. All that rust!
