Title: changed hoses, now bike starved of fuel
Post by: drowningbird808 on October 15, 2011, 09:18:30 AM
my hoses were all rotted out so i went to auto parts to get new line, i got a size bigger that stock so it would fit on the petcock better. but now it isnt getting fuel, it runs for a little bit then starves out. could it be the bigger line? if so what size do i need and is it possible to put braided hoses on there? or do you need to replace the petcock

What setting are you using on the petcock? If you're using the on position, try prime and let us know what happens. Also, did you check to make sure that the valve on the tank is set to the on position?

Did your vacuum line get disconnected on the back of the carbs?
Did you cut the lengths the same on the new lines?
Did you get new clamps for the hoses since they're bigger?

Prime is not a fix. It's a bandaid.

You probably swapped your hoses around when you installed them. Double check using the hosing diagram:
