Hey guys and gals, I'm Dre. Just bought a 2007 GS500F. It's my first bike and I'm new to the two wheel mode of transportation. I'll probably be asking a lot of dumb questions, but it's all good.
My horse didn't come with a tool kit. Couldn't find a cheap one. Was looking around on ebay and a lot of other Suzukis look like they use the same tools so i went ahead and bought a kit off a '06 Katana GSX 600F. Will those tools work on the 500 or did i just waste $15?
Thanks. Peace.
Dre
Welcome to the board!
I can't tell you what comes in the kit, because I never had one, but I carry around:
10mm 12mm 19mm socket heads/wrench
Ratcheting driver with philips/flathead bits
Needle-nose and Regular pliers
These have gotten me out of everything that I've encountered so far on the road (blown tail-light, turn signal, improperly attached carb bowls)
It should be OK.
Here's one for $10 + $12 postage

Looked at Kat tool kits. They look about the same. You're OK.
This is the GS500 toolkit...

Thanks guys. Don't want to buy more stuff than i need. Trying to put a good kit together. I already have a small locking pliers, multi-tool, homemade jumper cables, a few connectors, bulbs. Can't think of anything else i'd possibly need.
Isn't it weird that they didn't put any hex keys in the tool kit for the fairings!

You definitely need the wrenches/sockets and some allen keys, Metric for both. The 10 and 12mm wrenches in particular are really important for adjusting a lot of small bolts, e.g., the majority of the ones involved in adjusting cable tensions.

Add a couple different size cable ties and a small roll of gaffa tape aka race tape. You never know when you'll need it but thank f%$k when you do.
