Title: gas cap
Post by: knowles on October 26, 2011, 02:13:34 PM
I tired to clean the gas cap, like it says. Now the gas cap sticks up a little bit, I have seen gas caps on ebay that just screw in. I had to put in a new ignition, and he don't have keys to the old one or the other locks so, has anybody used these gas caps. Also is there anything that I can rig up to use the seat latch. I lock is broken and when I took it off it just fell apart. I don't really want to put a lock on it anyway so has any body got any suggestions?

I use a screw on gas cap, no problems with it at all. As far as the lock issue. I am sure that since the lock mech works off a cable system, you could rig something where a pull handle of sorts is along the tail fairing line. That way you just pull the little handle and the seat comes off.

Ok cool thank you, I think that's what I'm going to do with the gas cap. I have seen them new on ebay for $37. That's what I was thinking of doing I was seeing it anyone had seen or done that so I could have a direction as how to do it.

On the GS race bike, I disconnected the seat lock from the key mechanism and routed it out the tail of the bike (I have no tail light, so it's open back there.) You could probably just zip-tie it to one of the passenger peg brackets.

I have a billet aluminum screw on gas cap. Its much lighter and better looking than the original. Although, I did have somebody syphon my gas once. That SUCKED!

Makes me want to convert the bike to run Ethanol, just so I could get the last laugh.
