So i took my 05 gs on the interstate although it was rather windy and the roads are crap down here my bike would wobble ever so slightly between 75-90 mph... Im almost positive it was the wind, because at low speed lets say 45-60 it was doing just fine!
any thoughts?
Nip your nuts n bolts up.
sorry nip??
'nip' aka tighten.
ahh ok thats what i tought it meant... my bad man just never heard anyone say that! :icon_rolleyes:
It's Australian
lol on a separate note, have you ever had the wobbelys when it was windy? just curious..
Not really has wobbled cause of road surface, wind has blown me slightly but yeah.
Yeah im thinking it was the road because it only did it every once in a while. And the roads here on the I26 is very bad!
Like i said it didnt do it anywhere else only on that main stretch of road but its like 15 miles or so lol
by the what time is it on that side of the world??? its 218 am here man
20 past 4 on a lovely sunny Friday arvo. Bout 25c
lol havent heard that since i lived in norway! ha thanks for the advice but im about to go and pass out man...
watch out for them drop bears man bahahaha (sorry had to)
Got an hour before sundown I'll be ok.
Check your tire pressures too, mine was running under 36r 32f and the ride is definetly different than the correct pressures.
Did you have any luggage or heavy items towards the rear of the bike? I know on my other bike with hard luggage, when I have a lot of weight in there I can get some scary wobble at high speeds because the front end does not have enough weight on it. Scooting forward in the seat seems to calm the wobbles a little bit. Suspension or ride-height modifications could cause a similar situation.

As for highway wobbles... check tire pressure/condition. Also, the word "wobble" doesn't really help much - but - if you are adding a death grip to the bars due to wind, and your arms are more straight or locked and tense as a result, That will cause "wobbles". RELAX your arms.
Michael
tire pressure is good.. i went by the bike specs that are on the frame... think its 32f 42 rear.. there was no luggage, just me (160pounds)
and the death grip was def there.. except my arms are to long to lock straight forward lol ill try to keep that in mind next time i got for a ride.
as far as front tire condition is great, the rear is not so wonderful how ever... needs to be replaced within the next 3000 miles or so

Tire Pressure Specs from the Owners Manual are:
33 front 36 rear - solo
33 front 41 rear - with pillion
Your rear tire is overinflated.
Death Grip: Your hand should be loose on the bars at all times, arms relaxed with not tension in them. Get yourself a copy of Twist of the Wrist II and watch it and read the book :thumb:
Michael
word thanks man.. and sorry bike says 33 f 41rear thats my mistake and thats what i got in it! ill let a little bit of air out the rear
I would also check rear wheel alignment. My rear wheel was off by a little and I felt the rear loose/wobble everytime I lean into a turn. Very scary.
hmm well thats the whole thing that baffles me.. the bike feels solid everywhere else besides that one stretch of road not at all wobbly, good cornering... despite that im still a noob lol
How do you check your alignment by the way.. is that something i have to get done at a shop or can i do it my self?
