Title: Where To Buy Parts
Post by: Vova on October 30, 2011, 07:59:51 PM
I need some tiny basic parts, is the local dealer going to be the best bet?

I tried Suzuki Parts House and everything was good until shipping was $16!

This is for two bolts that go on the rear fender under the seat (heard some rattling when the tool kit was out and I saw its missing a couple bolts) a new switch+screw for the trip meter (that fell out somehow). Could also use a new emblem for the side of the crankcase cover as that was ripped off in a crash but was going to skip it for $12.

Seems outrageous shipping for 2 bolts and a few ounces of plastic/screw...

Decided to tear apart my bike and car in one weekend. Too bad the car will be a lot worse *gulp*

Check out bikebandit.com

I also went to the parts wear house, they wanted to charge me 20 bucks in shipping on a 6 dollar part lmao... no sir!

I also called a local shop, and they will most likely do a price match just to keep you local... just make sure their are big enough and not a small time bike shop. I got 15% off from Velocity power sport man in SC

Please do not buy from Suzuki Parts House.  I had a really really bad experience with them, and they handled the situation very poorly.  I promied myself that I would never deal with them, ever, and would also spread the word for others not to deal with them.

I order all kinds of  stuff for motorcycles and my other hobbies over the internet and almost always get top notch service.  Sometimes a company will make an "honest" mistake.  The reputable companies always handle thier mistakes fairly and quickly.......

Here's a company I ordered form recently,

http://www.shopmotorcycleonlinestore.com

I ordered valve shims....I actually got the wrong shims sent to me......sort of my own fault, but sort of their fault too since they sort of mixed up  the sizes and parts numbers  on the Webpage.  Anyway, I called them, explained the mixup...they e mailed a return label...I gave the package to the UPS guy...they sent out the correct parts right away..problem solved...I would give them my business any time....

Also good luck with Motorcycle super store......Bike Bandit, and many others..

Shipping cost...is always a problem....Most places offers some discount on parts which helps offset shipping....many give free shipping on larger orders ove $100 so you have to build up your wish list before ordering.

But even driving your car to a shop or dealer uses a couple of bucks of gas, and wastes a couple hours of your time...so reasonable shipping is still a bargain...
