So I finally got my old 92 gs500e running again after letting someone "tune it up for me",
The bike starts, but sputters... Today my friend helped me take a look at it, and it appears that the right side spark plug is sparking but the engine isn't working? If we pull off the right side spark plug nothing happens engine sill puts along. plug it back in and pull of the left side and the engine dies.
I took the bike out on the highway and it had a total loss of power... At one point the bike hit 50 mph and it died and i had to pull over to the side of the road. I waited about 5 minutes started it up again and finish the rest of my short ride.
Any idea why i would be getting this loss of power? what should i check to see whats going on.

Is the right plug black / tan/ dry/ wet? Compare the spark on the right and left plugs. If they look the same, then look at your right carb. If the right spark is weak/ non-existent, the it's either : ignition pickup, ignition coil, plug wire, plug boot, or the spark plug itself.
If you pull off your left spark plug and it dies, this means only the left spark plug is working. you might have a clogged right carburetor.
The left plug was whitish and my friend said that most likely the left side is overheating. The right side was black and oily.
Bike has 16,xxx miles and sat for about 8 years until now. Ran perfect before it sat. Thanks.

Testing everything? That's more than I could possibly type. Search around here and the wiki about "cleaning carbs" since I would say that's your #1 problem for now.
Hey big what's the wiki? And carbs could make one side of the engine not fire?
Most definitely - no gas in the cylinder means no bang out the exhaust. And there is one carb per cylinder. Get prepared to get your learn on:

:cookoo: Uhuh, that doesn't sound good, i hope it's just a carb issue, i'm going to remove the gas tank this weekend and pull off the carburetor.
