I almost got nailed today. I was going straight through the light in the right lane on Reseda (a two lane street). There was nobody in the left lane. One car turned left in front of me which was ok, then the car right behind it tried to follow it. I swerved hard to the right and the car hit its brakes hard. Missed me by about a foot.
So just a reminder for everybody, watch out for those left turners.
Glad you're ok!
It doesn't matter who has the right of way, motorcyclists always lose.
Yep, glad you survived. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.
yea glad your ok. ride safe and happy turkey day.
Yey! Turkey. Yum. Num nums.
-Anti :)
on a 2 lane street like reseda ( south of sherman way its really bad, it becomes broader north of sherman way.. past roscoe).
Anyway ride on the left lane on a 2 lane, not the right lane and even so try and be in a situation where there is a car near you, that way they know that they wont cut off the car, cause they can see them.
Dont tail gate, ppl cant see you (esp if there is a center turn-in lane on the road). If you are on the left lane then just ossilate so you can see if there is a car on teh center turn-in lane.
Also ride in highbeams...
and watch for those speedbumps

Just an observation...
Went riding with a friend last sunday, he has cobra pipes on an 1100 yamaha vstar. riding staggered i could not hear my bike at 7000 rpm, only his. No one tried to cut us off, everybody looked as we rode by. Wednesday night some jerk made a right turn on red in to my lane without looking :o ,and this is after i saw him and started blowing my horn. I had to split the lanes to avoid him. At the next light i put my dark visor up just over my mouth, and pounded on his window furiously. He said he didn't see me :dunno: . I yelled "That's cause you didn't look you F***kin A**hole!! , you have any idea what your insurance company will say to that! " His kids were in the car . :nana: I'm getting the loudest pipe i can for the $$, cause if they can't "see you", than they might as well hear you.

There's a thing they say and it goes like this: Loud pipes save lives!
True.......True
If you do the"kick the car" trick, be sure you hang back and don't get near the car afterwards.
His kids will probably be afraid of motorcyclists now :( .
Problem with loud pipes is that most sound goes behid you. Twin-disc 120db horns can be heard further in-front (wolo-mfg.com sells some).
Second the suggestion to use high beams during the day.

I'd rather that than have them watch their dad kill someone because he can't look before pulling out into traffic. Do i feel bad? Maybe. But I'm not the kind of person who's gonna get that close eating it and not let somebody know it's their fault. And trust me, nobody looks scary on a GS.

Glad your OK, bet they said "I never saw him" they always do usually because they don't bloody well look.

Cool, yes. The GS is one of the coolest bikes you can ride. you want scary, strip a rough looking goldwing and put clip ons on it.

I agree. Another issue is that hopefully the kids learned not to drive like their dad.

 i've got to see a pic of that!
laugh all you want but I've seen a pic of something like that on the Internet it looks bad ass, with almost a 100 kilo's of bodywork gone it might be fast as well. hmmmmm, I've got an idea
