Title: Question on future paint scheme for bike
Post by: weedahoe on November 03, 2011, 06:54:53 PM
My bike is stripped down to the frame and Im trying to think of the right paint color. I am going to powder coat it and Im sure the frame will be a high gloss black. But that is as far as Ive really gotten. I know I want other parts to be a candy and likely a light color but here is why, Im thinking of throwing in some glowing powder.

For it to look good the base coat has to be a light color. Check out this link - http://www.powderbuythepound.com/Glow_in_the_Dark/

Here are the other colors - http://www.powderbuythepound.com/Candies_-and-_Transparents/

So what would you guys think about a gs500 with a high gloss black frame, candy green other parts that would glow at night?

Tasteful or tacky?

Wow, I didn't know they had such things!  I honestly don't have an opinion, as I've never seen anything like that.  I wonder if you can argue that it would make you more visible at night?  Haha.

Now I'm curious.  Go for it!  Then post lots of pics!

I don't think your frame should be high gloss black, do something different like  :dunno_black: purple metalflake and paint all the bolt heads yellow.

It has the potential to look absolutely dreadful. I would do some photoshopping before I spent too much time and money only to find out you are the only person in 5,000 miles that even remotely likes it.

Glow in the dark only works with a light source. It's not like the powder will make the bike glow down the fwy on a night ride... unless you leave it under a bright light for a while.. and even then it'll only do it for a minute or two.

Wow! A new way to make your bike fugley without having to chop the tail off or turn it into a bobber POS!

Powder by the Pound sound like buying a 12 pack of underwear at Wally World - on sale for 99 cents. (And if you call in the next 10 minutes - we'll double your order --- just pay shipping and handling.)

keep in mind you would have the entire thing glowing and even then like someone said, it would only be IF you left it outside in the sun for extended period of time.

Lastly, what would be ugly about a black frame and candy coated green or some other color?
