Guys,
Hadn't been on the bike for a couple of weeks. Battery died while trying to start. Decided to bump start and asked my son to push. Unfortunately he wasn't really up to the task (there was nobody else to ask) and I had to get off to help. Unfortunately, I slipped of the kerb and the (previously mint) bike went down with me onto its left side :cry:
I've scratched the engine case at the bottom, the fairing is cracked and scraped and the indicator doesn't sit properly - its all loose and floppy, with fairing cracks and damage in that area.
I'm assuming the replacement fairing comes in sections but is there anything that can be done about the engine casing? I'd post pics but its pitch-dark here.
Thanks for any advice. I've prided myself on being careful till now and the weather/battery has caught me out. :icon_sad:
..Oh and forgot to add, a new battery has been ordered. Cost £30 here in the UK.
2 choices:
1. Leave it if it doesn't leak. You'll have scratches that give it character (or a reminder).
2. If it leaks oil, or, you want the bike to look pristine, you'll need a new cover and gasket (and a razor blade to remove the old gasket).
Sorry to hear about the drop. Stuff happens. That's why we all need to be careful.
Chock it up to experience and you had to eventually get that first scratch.
Dropped mine too on sunday. The casing is scratched to hell but it doesn't leak or anything. My fairing has a big crack in it, but I'm going to leave it as is until next year. A new case cover costs like $100 :flipoff:

I straightened out the fairing after loosening all of the fastenings. It kind of popped back into place, doesn't look too bad. The indicator was OK after re-seating properly.
I'll live with the casing damage and put it down to experience. A new battery means I won't have to bump start for a while ;)
