I like those bags. What are they?

The panniers are  by Andy strapz... Expedition panniers i think they are called.
Mostly for dirt riders.. Made from truck canvas.. They unroll to twice that size..
My mate took them around the word on his dr650. No hassels... No zips.
Awesome.

Looks good to go man. Just tuck in those straps so they arent flapping about, and you can ride until your butt can take no more

You could get a bigger tank bag on there. ;)

How does it hold up with all that weight? Second question: how do you deal with all the wind without a touring screen?

What windscreen is that? I have been looking for something that is not too big, but not too small either. That one looks like a good compromise.

Cause in Australia, we are hard as fack.  ;) ;)

I don't know DrMc, but this is a regular thing here it seems. The USA riders complain about the wind, the Aussies wonder what all the fuss is about and just ride. I don't know, maybe our air is thinner down here or something. But wind doesn't seem to bother anyone down here. So best I can say is, we deal with it by sucking it up and going on our way.

@Clancy Did you consider having two bags on the rack (back to back) with the tent on top or between you and the bag which rest on the pillion seat?

It's looking like you'll need to drop off the baton to someone in Vic or SA as obviously the Canberra riders cannot be bothered, after you meet up with a couple of the Tassie GSers of course.

Weights fine.. Rear shock wound up and 0.85 sonics in the front.. Actually handles better with load... a bit bouncy without. I love the wind bro..

Dont bother!! the screen is useless. knocks the wind rite onto my helmet... better off with out. Going to knock up a small retractable extension before i leave

2nd that. i love the wind!!!
The tent, bed roll combo is super light.. no drama having it back there. If i had the coin i may have gotten a second bag for the back but those panniers aint cheap!!..

Super jealous!! Hit me up when your down here in Tas and I can show you around a little if you wanted or you can pitch the tent in my yard  :D.

*edit* Great idea putting non-slip mat underneath the tank bag.

I dont have a problem with the wind really. I'm almost the perfect height for the windscreen to cast the wind over my helmet so I rarely get my ass handed to me. If I do I just get down a little lower. It'll be much nicer with superbike bars whenever I get around to installing them. The wind here gets pretty bad, and the only wind I really complain about is periodic 40 MPH gusts that nearly blow me into the other lane. Not much I can do about that, though.

I live in Penguin which is halfway between Devonport and Burnie (Here (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=Penguin+TAS&hl=en&sll=-40.968493,146.273346&sspn=0.889685,2.113495&vpsrc=0&hnear=Penguin+Tasmania&t=m&z=13)). I can show you some of the roads people ride alot around here (I'm no casey stoner wanna-be  :embarrassed: I have a pretty relaxed pace so I can enjoy the surroundings).

Also have a few tourist type destinations around here (the big 'nut' at stanely, leven canyon / gorge / waterfall, railton, cradle mountain etc)

What about the Murchison Highway through Hellyer gorge, I hear that's pretty twisty, though never been on it myself.
