Congrats! Looks like your scoot was too much trouble to steal!
Glad to hear they didn't make off with it.
mine lives in my garage.
Must have been a dumb thief who mistook it for a Gixxer cause, as I've seen in a sig file here, the GS500 has a cloak of cheapness about it that renders it invisible to thieves. And, the GS500 is the theft deterrent.
At home, it's in a locked garage. At work, a Monitored car park not near anything so no "walk by" thieves would see it.
In shopping centers, I try to avoid the motorcycle parking cause that is where thieves would look to steel a bike. But there is one I do park in the bike parking cause it has prime position right next to the entry doors.
Michael
At home the anti theft device is a boxer next door that barks at anything on two legs and breathing and my yard has a Kelpie in it that won't bark but if you come in the yard without her owners, there is a fair chance the back of at least one calf muscle will be her next meal. Oh and its in the driveway carport just behind a gate.
At work its on a military base so would be surprised if it walked.
Shopping centres I park in those motorcycle parks that Mister avoids cause if it gets stolen it gets stolen. I just don't leave anything on it to attract attention.
at home in the garage with trip wires and c4 rigged from the ceiling to the walls lol
when im out and about just wheel lock that comes with the bike
Baltimore City, no where is safe. Park in the backyard and have full coverage

Mine just sits in the front yard.
I park it where ever is going to get me to where I want to go the quickest.
I forget on a regular basis to remove the keys from the ignition when I park it at home :cookoo:
btw the lock as equipped from suzuki is useless. one good shoveandits gone.
If I need to park it somewhere 'sus' I try to park it next to the kinds of bikes thieves like, like GSXRs. Logic being, they'll steal the crotch rocket over the GS :thumb:
Michael
They probably wrestled the tarp off, realized it was a GS, and said forget it.
I once forget the key into the ignition switch over night. Fortunately the bike and key were untouched. Usually I use the steering lock and that's it. I also have a alarmed disk lock, but I rarely use it.

When I first got the GS I kept doing that. Leaving it in the driveway with the key in it as the last bike no one would steal if they could get it to start and so I formed a very bad habit. Neighbours kept bring the key to my front door till I start remembering to take it with me. Good neighbours I have.

Agreed. Normally the GS is ignored by thieves compared to other bikes. Normally thieves see the plain steel swingarm and move along. That's one of the GS's blassings!
I have a alarm brake disc lock (many to remind me there's a lock on the disc before driving off) and installed a form of Lo-Jack called "Find it now USA" which sends a text to your phone with the address where it is and GPS's it's location until the thief rips it out. Other than that I use Mr. Glock and Mr. M4 to protect when I hear the alarm or dog bark.
Really nothing is safe but you can try and Ourea it seems your try worked. congrads to you sir!!!!

I also have a Mr .357, but going to the hassle of getting it out is too bothersome so I have instead over insured the bike. Now if someone would just steal the bloody thing.
In Australia its legally safer to buy a blue cattle dog and tie that to the bike. It may bite you too but the bike would be safe and probably pissed on allot.
OK now you have me wondering, what is a blue cattle dog???
Any pictures??

Yep gotta blue dog as well. I pay all this money for insurance and it all just wasted :D
nah get a pit! who needs a house alarm when i got a 80 pound monster running around lol
Not allowed in Aus to have pits.
Beside Blue Cattle dogs are more than enough. They can bring down a Kangaroo Buck and that is no mean feat. Trust me you don't want a pissed of Bluey near you. They don't have that mad presence and size but they are extremely fast, very big on wounding over killing and can be just bad tempered. They also very loyal, good working dogs and soaks to their family.
Funny story. Neighbour where I grew up used to breed Red Kelpies. Kelpies being a popular working dog where I grew up. The local Parks and Wildlife Ranger (so yes this is a story from 20 years ago) had two Pig dogs. Ridge backs with quite a number of big and nasty breads crossed into them. One day they got out and came up to my Neighbours place and threatened my neighbours. Their Male Kelpie jumped the 6 foot fence gutted one of the pig dogs and badly savaged the other.
Kelpies are usually quite a a nice tempered working dog weighing roughly 40ish pounds about the size of the blue cattle dog in the pictures above. Easy to train, love working, hyper active if they don't work. Very loyal and you can safely leave your kids in the back yard with them, even if you kids are not gentle with animals. Someone else's kids are fine as long as they don't pick on your kids. Then there would be a problem. This one was around the 50 pound mark and the Pig dogs were some close to the 110 pound mark.
I think a working dog is great as a deterrent and the bonus is the criminal is still there when you get up/home so you can kick them a few times before having the cops come and take them away.
Oh yeah, I love those dogs. Had a Blue/Kelpie cross and a Red Cattle Dog too.
Fast. Damn fast. And they never seem to run out of energy. The red could vertical leap as high as my head. And when you played with him it was like playing "ole" with a bull how he'd charge and yeah good times.
