Title: Quick battery question
Post by: mandar on December 01, 2011, 08:32:33 AM
After my goats (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=57051.msg646167#msg646167) problem, I found out that my stator had been kaput too. So for a few weeks or so, I was running with a faulty charging circuit, but using a battery tender every few days. When I did install the new stator, lazy wiring caused a short, and the battery was drained to about 11.70 V.

I've fixed the short, but the battery drains down to under 12V within 3-4 days. I was wondering if these bad charging habits have killed the battery. Any ideas?

When I run the bike, with the battery fully charged, I get a voltage reading of about 12.6 - 12.8V (slightly increasing) at 3k rpm. The voltage keeps rising (extremely slowly though). So I suspect that the R/R is not messed up.

Should I just go ahead and get a new battery?
